In the 1950s, Cornelis Nouwens arrived in South Africa, bringing with him generations of fine carpet-crafting expertise from the wool textile hub of Tilburg, Holland.
Inspired by his father’s teachings, Cornelis established a humble mill in Harrismith in 1962, using a converted blanket loom to start what would become an enduring legacy.
Since then, Nouwens has not only perfected crafting their carpets, but their team as well- becoming one of the more recongised and respected names in the world of décor.
Still family-run and led by Luci Nouwens, who brings 40 years of hands-on experience, Nouwens Carpets continues to uphold its commitment to quality and innovation, crafting carpets with a unique character and superior standards that reflect our rich heritage.
